American Indian Week Kicks off at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center
April 23, 2025—Albuquerque, NM—The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center (IPCC) is proud to
present the highly anticipated American Indian Week, taking place from April 22 through
April 27. An annual event that coincides with the Gathering of Nations, American Indian
Week features cultural dances, Native art vendors, food, and more at IPCC.
Cultural dances take place several times each day throughout the week in IPCC’s newly
renovated courtyard, offering visitors the opportunity to experience traditional dances from
New Mexico’s Pueblos. The groups performing include the Pueblo Dance Group (Laguna,
Acoma, Hopi, Zuni), the Soaring Eagle Dance Group (Zuni Pueblo), the Jackrabbit Trail
Dance Group (Okay Owingeh, Hopi, Navajo), the Sky City Buffalo Ram Dancers (Acoma
Pueblo), the Oak Canyon Dance Group (Jemez Pueblo), and the Kallestewa Dance Group
(Zuni Pueblo).
Along with cultural dances, the courtyard will also host over 40 Native American artists on
April 26 and 27 for IPCC’s Spring Arts Market. Visitors can explore artist booths offering
pottery, jewelry, paintings, and more. Having artists on-site allows visitors to learn about
Native art firsthand and understand the significance of the artists’ work.
Along with American Indian Week activities, guests can explore IPCC’s museum
exhibitions, enjoy Pueblo-inspired food at the Indian Pueblo Kitchen, and shop at both the
Indian Pueblo Store and IPCC’s daily vendor market in the courtyard.
The final day of Amerian Indian Week, April 27, will be marked by
the Gourd and Round Dance, held from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the courtyard. The
Round Dance brings communities together to share songs and stories filled with love,
loss, and humor. This year’s Round Dance will feature the Southern Boyz, Mountain
Kree, Black Eagle, Fawn Wood, and Dallas Waskahat.
Admission to American Indian Week is included with regular museum admission. As part of
American Indian Week celebrations, admission is free for members of the 19 Pueblos and $1
for fellow Indigenous visitors. For more information, please visit
