Rural Capital Area Unemployment Rate Increased to 3.6% in January
CEDAR PARK, Texas ⎯ In January 2025, the unadjusted unemployment rate in the Rural Capital Area of Central Texas increased to 3.6 percent, according to data released by the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). This means that 3.6 percent of the workforce in the nine-county Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) were actively seeking employment, totaling 25,873 residents
Since January 2025, the local labor force has grown by 19,028 residents, with 18,365 of them successfully finding employment within the area. In January, the unemployment rates in the WSRCA counties were as follows:
- Bastrop County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.2 percent in December)
- Blanco County: 3.4 percent (up from 3.0 percent in December)
- Burnet County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.1 percent in December)
- Caldwell County: 3.7 percent (up from 3.1 percent in December)
- Fayette County: 4.0 percent (up from 3.5 percent in December)
- Hays County: 3.5 percent (up from 3.0 percent in December)
- Lee County: 3.5 percent (up from 3.0 percent in December)
- Llano County:4.2 percent (up from 3.7 percent in December)
- Williamson County: 3.6 percent (up from 3.2 percent in December)
In comparison to the statewide unemployment rate, which increased to 4.1 percent in January, the region’s unemployment figures remained lower. Similarly, the national unemployment rate increased to 4.4 percent.**
